Restoring Independence With Stair Lifts Is A Worldwide Phenomenon

With the presence of a stair lift in your home, you can significantly decrease the chances of any dangerous mishaps. Stair lifts are amazing mobility devices that provide safe and smooth rides up and down stairs. If you live with a senior or a person with a disability, a stair life is certainly for you. As you’re surely aware, stair lifts are not exclusive to Canadians. They are a safety-boosting phenomenon all over the world.

Stair lifts allow you retain your independence.

When you’re unable to climb up and down the stairs by yourself, you can feel like a burden on your family. People who require assistance very often feel a lot more than physical discomfort. They feel senses of depression as they are unable to perform supposedly easy tasks independently. Stair lifts help such individuals to regain the independence they would’ve otherwise lost. This is true for stair lift users worldwide.

“Struggling to move freely between floors in your own home can challenge one’s sense of independence – something that is very important to us all,” says Euro Lifts Limited of South West England, “When mobility becomes painful, often, we have to rely on other people to help us get around the house. Installing a stair lift allows people to move safely and easily around their home without the assistance of another person.”

Stair lifts offer safe and sound mobility.

The good people at Mobility Living Centre in England have aptly named their business to highlight the importance of keeping people mobile. A stair lift, quite obviously, moves a person up and down a flight of steps. This is vital in homes with both staircases and occupants who require mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers to get around.

“Obviously the key advantage to having a stair lift in your own home is the increased mobility that it will offer you,” agrees Mobility Living Centre, “They can really help improve people’s quality of life in and around their own home, giving them a way of easily moving between different levels of their home. This can actually improve your mental health as well as making things easier physically.”

A stair lift will provide peace of mind for the whole family.

Are you concerned about the health and well-being of your family members? Of course you are. That goes without saying. It’s understandable if you live with concerns or even fear of anyone in your home getting hurt. An older adult who is unsteady on his/her feet or a family member with a debilitating injury or illness is surely at the top of your list of concerns. Installing a stair lift is an excellent way to help you alleviate such worries.

“When a person who suffers from mobility issues is home alone, relatives may be concerned or worried about them using the stairs,” agrees Euro Lifts Limited, “Installing a stair lift ensures that family members can relax knowing that their relative can move safely around their own home without the risk of a fall. Stair lifts are very easy and safe to use, so family members can rest assured that the stairs are safe to use when they are away.”

Is it possible to install a stair lift myself?

If you have a bit of construction or technical, engineering type background, it’s possible. But there are a number of factors that would probably influence you NOT to do the installation yourself.

On the YES side:

If it’s a straight stairlift, it’s possible:

  • If there’s a supplier (manufacturer or dealer) willing to support you with installation questions.
  • If you have a bit of technical knowledge, good measurements and understanding of mathematical information to make the necessary calculations to get the right parts.

On the NO side:

  • It can be a bit complex or confusing. If you don’t have the correct tools for cutting or joining the rails.
  • If you run into an issue after installation (like a breakdown), it may not be covered by warranty.
  • If it involves a stairlift with turns or curves, it’s challenging to ensure the exact measurements that will ensure a perfectly smooth and safe ride.

We are sure to have a model of stairlift suitable for your needs, safety and budgetary requirements.
