Even the healthiest people can experience bladder leakage at different times of life. The extent of leakage, and possible reasons for it, are many and varied, like the individuals who experience it.

How Common is Incontinence?

Incontinence is more prevalent in women. In fact, incontinence is just as common as hay fever! Research indicates that one in four women over 35 have experienced incontinence.

Incontinence in men is not something usually discussed so it seems rarer than it is. In fact it’s really quite common, particularly among men who have an enlarged prostate or who have had prostate surgery, but there are a variety of other causes as well.

Which Incontinence Products Should I Use?

Incontinence products are designed for your comfort and security with a contoured body shape, a soft surface that feels dry all the time, and odor control. We have a comprehensive range of incontinence products available and will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed choice about the best solution for your specific need.

    Take Action

If you or someone you know is dealing with incontinence, here’s how to get started:

    1. Talk to a health-care provider (especially your family doctor or an OT) about your needs.
    2. Ask if you qualify for AADL support.
    3. Explore products that focus on comfort, discretion and dignity.

Support through AADL, Your Physician or Occupational Therapist

As an Albertans living with chronic incontinence, you may qualify for assistance through Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL). An assessment from a health professional, such as a physician or occupational therapist (OT), is required. Visit our Funding page to learn more.
