Learn All About Mobility Scooters To Select The Best One For You

You may have noticed that Advantage Home Health Solutions has been pretty excited about electric mobility scooters lately. In recent weeks, our blog has been dedicated to providing a wealth of information about these fantastic solutions…and with good reason! Firstly, our many years of experience have proven to us that mobility scooters are among the most safe and reliable mobility solutions on the market.

Secondly, the Advantage Home Health Solutions team is elated to be offering a very special promotion. Remember that if you purchase a new Pride Mobility Scooter, we will add a rear basket, a phone holder AND a side mirror for FREE! That’s a $200 value! In this week’s blog, we’ll answer a few more frequently asked questions about our mobility scooters.

How do you charge a mobility scooter?

Depending on the type of scooter, you may either use an insert for the charger onto the tiller or onto the battery housing for charging purposes. Travel mobility scooters can be taken apart. As a result, the batteries can be removed to be charged directly in a separate location.

However, all scooters do have ports for charging. They are located on the battery housing. It’s important to give the batteries either an overnight charge or at least one that last several hours. Short charges will shorten the life of the battery because it is not getting fully charged. This forces the battery to develop a “short memory”.

Which mobility scooter has the longest range?

The Pride Wrangler is an outdoor mobility scooter that is heralded as having the longest range. It has 13” pneumatic tires, 5.5” ground clearance and comes with two very large batteries. The larger the battery is on a mobility scooter, the longer its range. The Wrangler is also known for being both rugged and filled with features to help you get where you need to go.

With up to 350lb weight capacity and speeds up to 11 miles per hour, this outdoor mobility scooter is perfect for getting around the farm and going up and down hills.

Are mobility scooters available for rent?

Yes they are! If you require a mobility solution for short-term use, Advantage Home Health Solutions does offer mobility scooter rentals. If you’re taking a quick trip to mall, attending the Calgary Stampede or going to another event, a rental would be ideal.

Generally speaking, mobility scooters for rent are designed for use on hard surfaces as opposed to rough terrain. Our rentals are equipped with 8 to 9” wheels. It’s ideal for rented mobility scooters to be the type that can fit into your truck. The Pride Go-Go Folding Mobility Scooter is a prime example of a solution that is easy to transport. As its name connotes, the scooter can easily be folded up.

Do mobility scooters need insurance?

Yes, you should get insurance for theft of your mobility scooter. These solutions are not covered by motor vehicle insurance policies because they are not considered street legal. Ideally, you can lock your mobility scooter up when it’s not in use. Keeping the keys secured is also wise.
